St. Thomas More was an English lawyer, statesman, author, and devoted Catholic who served as Lord Chancellor of England. When he was asked to approve King Henry VIII’s separation from the Catholic Church, More remained faithful to his conscience and refused to compromise his beliefs.

He was imprisoned and ultimately martyred for his loyalty to Christ and His Church. His courage reminds us to stand firmly for truth and conscience, even when doing so comes at a great personal cost.
