About St. Peter
Feast Day: June 29
Patron of: Bakers, fishermen
St. Peter was a humble fisherman named Simon until Jesus called him to be an Apostle and renamed him Cephas—“Rock.” Despite his weaknesses, including denying Jesus three times, Peter’s sincere repentance and deep love made him a bold witness of the Resurrection. Entrusted with the “keys to the kingdom of heaven,” he became the first pope and leader of the early Church. His martyrdom in Rome, crucified upside-down, sealed his unwavering faith. St. Peter reminds us that God works through imperfect hearts and can build something unshakable on our trust in Him.
