Entrusted with the “keys to the kingdom of heaven,” he became the first pope and leader of the early Church. His martyrdom in Rome, crucified upside-down, sealed his unwavering faith. St. Peter reminds us that God works through imperfect hearts and can build something unshakable on our trust in Him.
