St. James the Greater, one of the twelve apostles and brother of St. John, was among Jesus’ closest companions. After the Ascension, tradition holds that James journeyed to Spain to proclaim the Gospel. He was later martyred in Jerusalem, and his relics were brought back to Compostela, now a major pilgrimage site. As the patron of pilgrims, he invites us to walk with faith, trusting God every step of the way.
