About St. Anthony of Padua

Patron of: Lost items, lost people, lost souls, Lisbon, finding one's spouse, American Indians, amputees, animals
St. Anthony of Padua was a 13th-century Franciscan friar celebrated for his profound knowledge of Scripture and his gift of preaching. Born in Portugal and later traveling throughout Italy and France, his teachings inspired countless conversions and deepened the faith of many. While most commonly known today as the patron of lost items, his ministry reached the poor, challenged the proud, and revealed God’s mercy through miracles. Canonized just one year after his death at age 36, St. Anthony remains one of the most beloved saints in the Catholic Church.
