About St. André Bessette
Feast Day: January 6
Patron of: Rejected people, family caregivers, the sick, healing, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Holy Cross religious
St. André Bessette, a humble doorkeeper with fragile health and little formal education, became known across Canada as the “Miracle Man of Montreal.” With deep devotion to St. Joseph and unwavering faith in God's Providence, he comforted the sick and downtrodden for decades. Though often overlooked in worldly terms, he transformed countless lives through quiet service and prayer. His legacy culminated in the creation of St. Joseph’s Oratory, now a world-famous shrine to the foster father of Jesus. St. André’s life reminds us that holiness is found not in status or strength—but in surrender.
